Part of the Big E excitement
for two Springfield natives rises from the reunion of two
sisters and the products they dreamed up 20 years ago to buff-to-beauty
all the fingernails in the world. Donna
Taras of Longmeadow rose at 4 a.m. the Tuesday before
the Big E opened and drove to Kennedy Airport to meet her
sister and partner, Royce Taras, who now lives in Durban,
South Africa. It was their first meeting in 18 months since
they changed their business name to Nailbuffs International.
There, outside Door 8 of the
Better Living Center, as they catch up on family news, they
are also offering free nail analyses and free buffing
demonstrations.
"It's like our second debut,
all these years after starting at Steiger's, and showing everyone,
all ages, all skin tones, male and female, how to beautify
nails without polish," said Taras, buffing as
she spoke. "We never dreamed one of us would have to travel
thousands of miles to go to the Big E together again," Royce
